ISPM15 & export guidance

ISPM15 Heat Treatment and Wood Temperature

Conventional heat treatment requires the specified temperature to be achieved through the timber, including its core, for the required continuous duration. The familiar 56°C and 30-minute requirement is not simply a kiln air reading. Approved processes need appropriate control of the treatment parameters.

Your specification.

Ask about the controlled process

Buyers should specify compliant treatment and marking through the relevant programme rather than asking for a particular chamber setting. Timber thickness and the treatment arrangement affect how a process is managed. Moisture reduction is a separate requirement and should not be inferred from the heat-treatment parameters.

Details to check for your enquiry

  • Approved treatment and marking
  • Process evidence where required
  • Separate moisture specification
