ISPM15 Treatment vs Pallet Hygiene

ISPM15 addresses specified plant-health risks associated with raw-wood packaging in international trade. It does not make a pallet sterile or certify cleanroom suitability. Pharmaceutical, chemical and food sites should define their own incoming timber acceptance and handling controls alongside any export treatment requirement.

Your specification.

Write hygiene criteria separately

Explain whether goods are sealed, where pallets are stored and whether timber enters controlled areas. Specify visible contamination, moisture and condition limits according to the site's policy. Ask the responsible quality team to approve the handling arrangement rather than using a heat-treatment mark as a substitute for hygiene assessment.

Details to check for your enquiry

  • Site timber acceptance policy
  • Storage and controlled-area transfer
  • Condition and moisture requirements
